The latest additions to our global drinks menu will keep you refreshed all the way through summer

If April has us itching to shrug off our sweaters and slip into short sleeves and sunglasses, the same goes for what we want to drink. Yes, there’s always a time and a place for a Negroni or Dirty Martini (three olives, of course). But as the temperatures rise, so does our desire for lighter, longer drinks – one that our new-season cocktail offering meets perfectly.

As anyone who has ever visited Soho House knows, we take our drinks offering very seriously. While we will always have the House favourites (those Picantes aren’t going anywhere), our mixologists are forever looking for different ways to up their cocktail game.

Take the new collection of Summer Tonics, which will be launching across our European Houses from Friday 5 May. Available by the jug as well as the glass – perfect for sharing – the basic recipe typically features a spirit base (gin, rum, tequila and so on) with a hit of citrus, topped up with tonic. Add some fresh fruit, botanicals, tailormade garnishes or syrups and these deceptively simple drinks offer an abundance of delicious flavour combinations for you to discover.

To celebrate these new cocktails – and make the most of the seasonal ingredients available for each one – our European Houses are offering five different takes on the drink (check your local House for details). Dare you take up the Summer Tonic Challenge and try to taste them all?

Over in Soho House Bangkok, the Wannasiri Spritz is causing quite a stir. A blend of Bombay Sapphire gin and white wine is served with watermelon, orange blossom and rose. Equal parts floral and fruity, this refreshing spritz – served only by the glass – is the ideal accompaniment to long summer evenings.

If alcohol-free is more your style in the warmer weather, we have some great new options for you to try. Take Soho House New York’s Purify Mocktail, for example. Featuring turmeric, ginger, lemon and pear, topped with soda and a sprig of fresh rosemary, it could hardly be better named.

The same applies to another New York drink – the Soho Sunset – for which the word ‘sundowner’ has never felt more appropriate. Created in-house by Fabio Perez Marte, and this time alcoholic, it brings a touch of smoky mescal to a classic tequila base. This plays perfectly off the combination of sweet, earthy and sharp flavours – passion fruit, lemon, spicy blood orange and carrot.

Add a half-rim of tajin and a sprig of mint and we can’t think of a better way to spend a fine spring evening than on the rooftop at Soho House New York or DUMBO House (or the garden at Ludlow House), Soho Sunset in hand.

After all, when it comes to enjoying a great cocktail, the setting – and the company – are everything.

Enjoy our new cocktails al fresco with the best views from our rooftops
