Around the world, we hosted parties, dinners and thought-provoking conversations, all in honour of our LGBTQIA2S+ community

Tuesday 9 July 2024 By Chloe Lawrance

Every year, June marks Pride Month – a time that’s dedicated to not only celebrating all that it means to be part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, but also to remember the ongoing fight for queer liberation around the world.

Across the Houses, we marked the very special month with a host of celebrations, from colourful dance parties to thoughtful panel discussions – and everything in between. Here’s what you might have missed.

Soho House Hong Kong
Panel: Queer visibility in Hong Kong
Joe Lam, director of the Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, was joined by Hong Kong transgender activist Henry Edward Tse for a special discussion about the changing face of queer visibility in the country. Tse made history in 2023 when he won a court appeal to remove full sex reassignment surgery as a requirement for changing gender on identification cards.

Soho House Austin
Y’all means all: celebrating the legacy and impact of Texas drag
In the wake of attempts to ban drag shows all over Texas, we hosted a celebratory panel on the rich history and significance of the art within the state. We were joined by Cynthia Lee Fontaine from RuPaul’s Drag Race; Brigitte Bandit, who boldly challenged Texas’s drag ban and won; and drag king icon, Alexander the Great. The panel was moderated by GLAAD-nominated host and CBS Austin news anchor, John-Carlos Estrada.
