Inside our Emmy Awards ‘For Your Consideration’ events

On Sunday 15 September, the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles will welcome some of the television industry’s biggest names for the 2024 Emmy Awards. And although the ceremony is still a few months away, the first round of voting opens between Thursday 13 and Sunday 23 June. 
 
As part of this voting process, we’ve been hosting a series of ‘For Your Consideration’ member screenings, inviting actors into the Houses for some special Q&As.

On Thursday 16 May, Gillian Anderson joined us at Soho House West Hollywood to discuss Scoop, a frontrunner for Best TV Movie. Despite favourable reviews for her portrayal of British broadcaster, Emily Maitlis, Anderson admitted that she was initially reluctant to take on the role.

‘I was nervous about playing Emily because she’s so well known. She actually lives in my neighbourhood. In fact I’d just seen the first screening of the film and the next day I was with my dog in Hyde Park when Emily ran past with a friend. My instinct was to shout after her, “I just saw our film and I really liked it” – but fortunately, I didn’t.’

Next up, we welcomed Ambika Mod to the screening room at White City House on Thursday 6 June. Here, she discussed the process of bringing the character of Emma Morley to life in Netflix’s adaptation of One Day. 

‘As the lead character, every single frame is about you and your character’s thought process and emotions… you have a responsibility for setting the tone on set with your behaviour and how you interact with everyone. I took that very seriously. It was such a relief when I watched it and felt proud of my performance. And when other people liked it too, I was like “thank **** for that”.’

Next up, on Sunday 9 June, the cast of The Curse joined us at Soho House West Hollywood. Together, Corbin Bernsen, Barkhad Abdi and Nizhonniya Austin discussed the ‘secret sauce’ behind the Showtime series’ success.

‘This material was just so good, I knew it was going to be something that people were going to talk about,’ said Bernsen. ‘Plus, Emma [Stone] is in it and she’s always brilliant.’

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting more ‘For Your Consideration’ events in the Houses. On Sunday 16 June, Quinta Brunson will join us in Soho House West Hollywood to discuss Abbott Elementary, which she writes, runs and stars in. Book your place at the screening here.

If you’re eligible to vote in the Emmy Awards nominations, be sure to do so before Sunday 23 June. Nominations will be revealed on Wednesday 17 July.
